Certificate of Inspection forms are in HiveHub for non DECA holders only

Your Certificate of Inspection is to be completed between 1 August and 31 November each year.

A COI is a legal document that must be completed by all beekeepers without a current Disease Elimination Conformity Agreement (DECA) with The Management Agency. As per Clause 27 of the AFB NPMP, a COI is a legal document that must be completed by all beekeepers without a current Disease Elimination Conformity Agreement (DECA) with The Management Agency.

If you are required to complete a COI, all your colonies must be inspected by a certified DECA-accredited inspector between 1 August and 30 November each year. Both the inspection and submission of your COI are submitted via HiveHub.

Every beekeeper is responsible for arranging their inspection directly with a DECA holder. You can find a list of certified DECA-accredited inspectors here.

Consult this flow chart if you are unsure whether you need to complete a COI.

Commercial Refresher Course - West Coast

  • Kumara Junction, West Coast Region New Zealand (map)
  • Google Calendar ICS

Are you a commercial beekeeper?

We know that commercial beekeeping operations have unique challenges.  We also know commercial operators can successfully manage and eliminate AFB from their businesses, through education and upskilling of their staff who do day-to-day beekeeping.  And we are committed to supporting you with that.

After a successful pilot delivery in the South Island, we are excited to introduce its new AFB refresher course; solely for commercial beekeepers and their field staff!

CLICK HERE to find out what's on offer via our promotional video!

 About the course:

  • The course focuses on approved AFB disease management practices, best bee husbandry practices that are effective and economically sound. The course also provides clarity on NZ Bee Health & Biosecurity's expectations for AFB elimination. Registrations are now OPEN.

 Cost:

  • The course registration fees is $75/per person, applicable to the first 10 attendees (employees and management staff) from a commercial operation. The price is capped at 10 employees which means if you send more than 10 employees, you will still only be charged $750.

For more information and to register your interest, please contact Janette at training@nzbb.org.nz or phone 0800 232 767.
